ThinPro and AD/DNS problems

I have a number of t510 thin clients on my network, running ThinPro, and Active Directory and DNS have never worked properly, or at least how I would want them to. Now that ThinPro 5.0 is out, I want to try to get it right before deploying the new image. 

 

What I am wanting to do exactly is on boot, have the thin client join to the domain and register in DNS automatically. So far, it looks like this is a manual process, and I don't want to manually add 50+ devices to the domain. It seems counter to the idea behind having thin clients.

Upgrade Device Version and Keep Settings

I have recently rolled out a group of t510 devices running ThinPro.  Of course now that I have created a Gold image and successfully completed the rollout there is a new Device version.  Rolled out devices with T6X44017 version and now there is a fix in T6X44102 that I want to implement.

 

I was hoping there is a way to upgrade the Version and either re-import all the settings or retain all the settings.  Settings include, Company background image, VNC, HPDM settings and most importantly Citrix connection with unique ad login per device.

 

Is there a task that will export all those settings, then update version and then import all those settings and make it a template sequence?  Is that possible?

Upgrade t510

Hello

 

I'm trying to update my HPt510 thin client but i can't make it work. I can't get to proper files from my image downloaded from HP (sp67020.exe and the t6x50034, the latest version you can download). When I format the USB and try to boot from it my device only tells me to "Remove disks or media".

Formating the USB is probably the issue but I can't find or do it in any other way.

 

I've also tried to use an older USB which i used before by replacing the old image, but that doesn't work either.

 

Would be great with some help. Thanks.

T510 auto-update from T6X44017 to T6X50034 fails

Hi everybody,

 

i have problems updating the t510's operating system from T6X44017 to T6X50034 via auto-update.

The client does it's imaging job, then reboots and stops loading at "Starting ThinPro ...".

Does anybody have a hint or maybe a fix for that already?

 

PS: i am using auto-update via ftp.

T410 Printer stops responding each day

Hi All

 

Thanks to some excellent help from this forum, we were able to install a printer on a T410, to be able to print from the built in Firefox Browser.

We downloaded the KIT-Printercups.xar file and used the X-Terminal to get it installed.

this worked great and now we can install an HP Printer and print when we boot directly into firefox.

 

However, we have a new problem. It seems that each morning, the T410 still recognises the printer is attached, but nothing will print. In firefox, the print dialogue box shows a red X on the printer as if it is off line. In the periferals settings of the T410, the printer is still listed, but when we try a test page nothing prints.

 

If we delete the printer and try to reinstall, the printer does not appear in the list to be installed, it's as if no printer is connected. However, usb manager does show the printer as connected.

 

the only way we have been able to fix this, is by reinstalling the KIT-PRINTERCUPS.xar again, which takes half an hour, and we dont really want to have to do that every day.

 

Can anyone help?

Redirect Mass Storage into VDI

When our VDI users , using T620 (Smart Zero 4.4) connect their iphone to the thin client , it doesnt get redirected into the VDI windows 7 machine.

 

We are using Citrix XenDesktop 7

USB > Root >allowe  is set to 1

 

By We need a setting to make redirect work 

use default doesnt seem to help

T510 Admin Password not recognised 07-07-2014

Hi,

 

T510 thin client set up for first time yesterday - no problems - it stated "setting up for first time" etc. and it went straight into windows and I was able to use browser no problem.

 

This morning started it up and it went to a screen showing "Administrator" or "Install" ICONs.

Selected Administrator - it then asks for password - "Administrator" does not work.

 

In F10 Bios there is no "Change Administrator Password" option shown.

 

I can't get in and have tried all the obvious passwords - please help !

HP T410 AiO RDP Disconnections

Anyone having issues with the T410 AiO randomly and frequently disconnecting from Windows Remote Desktop 2008 sessions? Issue I am having is not limited to a specific T410 and is happenning across multiple RDP servers. Have tried updating FW to latest release which has not fixed issue. Thanks!

We are using Device Manager 4.5 and Smart Client Services 4.4. I want to upgrade DM to 4.6 SP1 and SCS to 5.0.

I did not see any information about upgrade in the documentation. How can I do this?

Thin Client HP T510 printer issues

So we have some thin clients. We have a default local printer installed for the administrator that "comes over" on the default "User" profile (which is great, that is what needs to happen) When we try to install a network printer:

  1.  We disable the write filter
  2. We disable user security
  3. We install the network printer under the User profile
  4. We are prompted for domain admin credentials.
  5. We enter the credentials and successfully install/test the printer
  6. We reboot and let the User login (automatic)
  7. The printer is there, but it says "access denied, unable to connect"  

Key notes:

  1. These thin clients MUST have the printers installed locally
  2. These thin clients are not on the domain, they are set to the default WORKGROUP  

This seems like it should be easy to get working, but I cannot seem to find a solution and I have been working on this for over a week now. Thanks in advance.

T410AIO Cannot change display orientation

I want to use T410AIO with Firefox in kiosk mode. Firefox will automatically connect to a web portal. Web portal is designed vertically so I need to set orientation of desktop to the left or right. I could not set this using display preferences or smart client services. Although display profile is set as return left, it does not work. Is there a limitation about this?

T5740e firmware update failed, unable to start OS

Yesterday I tried to flash my thin client 5740e.

I opened HP easy tools and selected the latest update.

 

The tools formatted my usb stick and installed an update on it.

After installing it the thin client started from the usb device, unfortunately when it reached 85 % I got an error 112.

It continued installing, but after reaching 100% it wont startup anymore.

 

How can I fix this problem ?

T510 Problem Teemtalk display

Hello,

 

I have got 2 new HP ThinkClients T510 (teemtalk version 7.3.4.5105) on a customer Site. They are used to querry an AS400 via Teemtalk. Both new ThinClients are cutting some columns.

The same cutomer has an older T510 (teemtalk version 7.3.2.4811) with exact the same settings, this device works without problems as expected.

 

I already tried an full update via auto update. But no changes always the same Problem. Is there a solution for the problem. Or is it possible to install the older teemtalk version 7.3.2.4811 on the new devices and where can I get the package.

Citrix Receiver 13 ThinPro USB redirection slow

I noticed in the release notes for the Citrix Receiver 13.x client for ThinPro that a known issue is that redirection of USB storage like flash drives or USB hard drives is slow with no workarounds listed. I tested this myself and it is indeed very very slow to enumerate the directory or open any files. Is anybody aware of any workarounds or patches that address this problem?

t620 WES8 Image Capture Failure /Boot Loop

- t620 Quad Core

- WES8 x64

- 13WWDTBM602#SABA#DABA

- BIOS: L40 v2.05

Tried an inital capture before making changes.  First captures failed quickly with a network adapter driver error - I updated HPDM 4.6 with SP1 and was able to proceed past this error. 

 

All following capture attempts result in an uneding boot-loop.  The workstation creates a new boot option, "winpe [EMS ENABLED]" which it sets as default, that it continuously loads and reboots.  I let this process run for over an hour before cancelling the task.  All subsequent attempts create a new/additional "winpe" boot option with the same behavior.  I updated the BIOS at this point with no change. 

 

I have also found that I am unable to diable UWF as the Administrator either from the taskbar or the HP Unified Write Filter Configuration through the Control Panel.  The lock is green and the UWF Configuration GUI indicates UWF is enabled but new desktop shortcuts and file downloads are left in place after reboot.  Event viewer shows "Event ID 1007: "Unified write filter fail to be disabled, exit code 196608.  The system cannot find the path specified".  I also tried disabling UWF using HPDM but received error "14007032, Write Filter error". 

 

Looking through the Write Filter Configuration, I found that there are NO file/folder exclusions whereas the TC I just pulled from the box has multiple including bootstat.dat and agent_persist.dat.

 

So...do I have a lemon here or what?  I have one other t620 that I've confirmed I can disable UWF with no issues but I have not attempted to image yet as I'm a little concerned of the boot loop and creating the same issues I've seen with the original.  I would be more comfortable if I could find a factory image download from HP but there are none available on the drivers & software page.  Can somene from HP direct me to a factory WES8 x64 image?

I'm trying to update the agent on our thin clients but seeing the following error:

Upgrading IDE DOM in a HP t5740

I upgraded the stock 4Gig DOM to an 8 Gig but now need to go bigger.

 

The 8 Gig  currently in the client is a 2 channel IDE DOM- but the 16 and 32 Gig DOMS I have found are 4 channel.

 

Wonder if the 4 channel will work?

t510 with ThinPro 5 on HPDM 4.6

With upgrading our ThinClients to ThinPro 5 I figured I'd revist the HPDM after giving up on it when we first got the t510s as the version at the time was having issues with the Smart Zero OS.  Instead, I had been using the Smart Zero Client services tool to automate profile loading and imaging.  This worked great and still does with ThinPro 5.

 

I saw that HPDM 4.6 now consolidates the Smart Zero Client services which sparked my revist.  Indeed, for the TC's still on the older Smart Zero 4.2 OS I can create a " Deploy Profile" task that lets me load a profile from the previously seperate SZCS tool.  However, for the TC's running ThinPro 5 there is no "Deploy Profile" task, despite ThinPro 5 being quite capable of using those profiles to be configured.

 

Is it possible to get a Task Template that allows profiles to be deployed for ThinPro 5?

Difference between T610 and MP4

Can anyone please layout the differences between the T610 Flexible thin client and the MP4 Digital Signage Media Player thin client?

We are purchasing and deploying T610s for digital signage use and I am wondering if the MP4 would be a better option. On paper they look identical so I'm hoping someone can offer an explaination on what makes the MP4 different/better for digital signage use than the T610.

Need Help with T610 Thin Client HPDM 4.6 SP1

hi

I've installed HPDM 4.6 SP1 and need a bit of help with setting up task templates in HPDM.

I have t610 thin clients running Win 7E 32-bit in Kiosk mode.

 

How do I setup a task template to:

1. install 1 or more windows updates

2. update software such as Adobe Reader etc.
