Having an issue where you open one program (like I.E.) and you get multiple tabs on the taskbar for that program but only one is the actual program.  You can't close the tabs, they are just there.  Does this with all programs that are opened.  Doesn't affect performance but is a nuisance to say the least.   We have multiple models of thin clients operating on our network and this model seems to be the only one doing it.  It is a t610 and has the latest updates applied to it.  Has anyone else seen this issue and do you know how to solve it

Thanks

T610 USB flash drive showing up as "Hewlett Packard USB Device"

I just deployed about 50 T610's running WES 2009.  Logged into the terminal as Administrator, if I plug a USB flash drive into any one of the USB 2.0 ports (black), it is recognized as a "Hewlett Packard USB Device".  I see this by clicking on the icon in the taskbar that allows you to safely remove USB devices.  If I look in Disk Management, nothing.

If I plug the same USB drive into a USB 3.0 port(blue), works just fine.  I have tested this with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 mass storage devices.  Mice/keyboards work just fine in the USB 2.0 ports.

Am I the only one??  Thanks for your help!

T5730 & T5740 add EWF enhanced write filter exclusions

$

Hello,

Is there any way to add exclusions on a Thin Cliet with EWF?

We have T5730, T5740 and T610. T610 has FBWF and I use this:

fbwfmgr /addexclusion c: "\...."

T5730 and T5740 have EWF and ewfmgr hasn't got that option.

But I have found that you can add registry exclusions on:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RegFilter\Parameters\MonitoredKeys

Is there any way to add file exclusion on that registry?

Thank you.

T610's, how to keep existing hostname after re-imaging?

HI Folks,

   I have HPDM 4.5 sp3,

   current T610 ThinPro 4.3 image (T6X43202)

   updated Agent 4.5.3668.17625

Once I get a device into HPDM,  so far, the things that I've tried, work as it should as far as I can tell.

I can capture, and deploy settings and images, reboot devices, rename, etc.

However, When I deploy an image (to re-image) ,the hostname of the device reverts back to the default HP-$Mac string.

I can then go back into HPDM, and send it a Hostname/IP task, and that works fine,

How do I avoid this for 1000 clients who's hostname is based on an asset tag ID?

From what I understand of the documentation, it's supposed to keep the existing hostname after the re-image.  am I missing a check box somewhere?

t610 - won't turn on, give a beep code (4 beeps)

What would a 4-beep code for a t610 be? When you power it on, the power light turns red and flashes 4 times (with beeping at the same time), pauses and continues the 4-beep code... Any thoughts?

Hi there

Is it possible to allow user to enter RPC host name in Kiosk mode?

HP Easy Tools insist to have the host name entered upon setup.

HPDM 4.5-sp3/thinpro 4.3.2 set hostname from Asset Tag?

HI,

I'm looking to deploy about 1000 T610's in my envinronment by middle of Q1 next year, and I'm buzzing out the config and management.

I've noticed (by either bug, or design) that if you set the hostname, and image the machine, it will revert to the default HP$macaddress.    We plan on setting the asset tag field in the bios to an actual barcode sticker that is stuck to the outside of the case.  We then use that tag number as a hostname.

What I want to know is this,  Has anyone found a way to atuomatically set the hostname to the asset tag value located in the Bios?  I know the agent can see the value because it reports it in the HPDM console.

I feel like I'm missing something vital.

Thanks for your help!!

Windows XPe Thin Clients, next year end of support

Hello community,

we have a lot of HP thinclients with Windows XPe OS.

Next year support for Windows XP(e) ends.

Now we are thinking about a solution for our thinclients.

Replace TC with new one, change image on TC to os from other vendor (there are linux solutions available), nightly reboot to activate EWF (not really a solution if TC is infected), lock down TC with firewall and so on...

Maybe somebody has similar problems and wants to share his soultion/ideas with me? How is HP handling this "problem"? Newer OS (Windows embedded 7 will not work, most Windows XPe TC have not enough HW ressources).

T510 RDP Printer Redirect

$

We are looking to deploy T510s (SmartZero 4.5) in some remote locations.  We are implementing Citrix, but in the meantime, we need the users to connect to a legacy RDP server.  The locations already have Brother 8510DN printers locally.

I am trying to find a process to be able to map these printers (the documentation is not helpful).  I've gone to the USB Manager, selected redirect (it detects the prother printer, but with a lot of "unknowns: if I expand it).  Then into the printer mapping and selected the printer and allowed it to redirect.  (There is a box there for "Windows Driver" but not sure if anything should be put in).  Finally, I've changed the connection settings to allow the local resources - printers  - to be redirected.

However, the printer does not appear int he TS session.  Can someone please direct me to any instructions, etc.

Do I need to install drivers locally on the T510, or are only certain printers supported?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Matthew

T5540 Windows Ce and SmartCard Login

I've been researching this for days and haven't found a good answer yet.  I'm hoping someone has solved this if it is possible.  Where I work they have HP T5540 Thin Clients with Windows CE.  I've updated to the latest firmware and software. I'm trying to authenticate with vmware with smartcards.  In Windows CE Control Panel I goto Certificates and Import.  I can see my card reader but my card is listed as unknown.  If I use my network credentials I can sign into vmware view and launch a virtual desktop.  Once in my virtual desktop I can see my smartcard credentials but I cannot use my smart card to actually sign into view. On a regular desktop I can sign into view and my virtual machines using my smartcard just fine.  Any ideas?

HPDM 4.5 SP3 agents devices aren't discovered!

$

Hi all,

this is an issue we've had with a customer off and on over the past versions of HPDM.

The problem is basically in two parts, which may or may not be related:

- Agents aren't updated automatically. Some are, some aren't. This seems pretty random to me, and most update if the agent is pushed. This is a mixture of T510 WES2009 and Thinpro 4.1 clients (same issue in 4.3, I've tested).

The network is pretty locked down, but all documented ports are open.

- Many devices don't seem to register with HPDM. Everything appears to be normal with the clients, but they are not discovered when walking the IP-ranges. Even if I set the HPDM address manually in the agent; nothing happens.

Discovery is using DNS-lookup; which has worked before. But this also seems pretty random; though only with ThinPro devices thus far.

I've even gotten this with a plain 4.3 update on clients; it's registered running 4.1; but after running Easy Update to 4.3, it's never updated in HPDM no matter what I do. I can delete it, run discovery, nothing.

Onlything that is special there is that I have to set a static IP when running the update, as the subnet with FTP access doesn't have DHCP. I do however switch to a net with DHCP after the update.

Anyone got any ideas?

HP Device Manager 4.5 bare metal TC restore

$

Is it possible to image a Thinclient from "bare metal" - basically I have a number of customised HP thin clients that need to be reimaged and I can't use a USB key due to media restrictions.

So what I'm wanting to achieve is the ability to PXE boot a thin client and get a thinpro image back on it.  Model t5745

Also can we confirm what DHCP options you'd expect on a DHCP server with HP DM installed on it as there seems to be conflicting info.

The other thing I may try is to see if I can get the reimage too onto a CD and boot from a CD?

HPDM Push Time to T/C's

Hi all.

HPDM v4.4.3610.13987

Seem to be having an issue getting time to push out to a T5000 series. Whenever I attempt to push the Time, I am getting an error:

Failed to execute c:\windows\xpeagent\hpdmmc.exe set time date=9-5-2013 time=04:11:03

The syntax of the command is incorrect

Failed to execute ApplySettings task

ErrorCode: 14004022, Error Detail: Command line error

Failed to execute common task

ErrorCode: 14004022, Error Detail: Command line error

I can "Get Asset Information" no problem, and in doing so and looking at the Configuration tab of the client, I seethe following:

Sys Time Zone  UTC -8...which is correct

Sys Date 2013-09-05...this is off by ONE day

Sys Time 12:45:39...this is out by 3 1/2 hrs

HPDM Server Time 2013-09-06 09:08:53...this is Correct

So I am at a loss as to why this t/c will NOT update the time.

As TIME is such a ciritical function, this should be working at the very least.

Any ideas how I can get this to work??

The T/C in question is not near by, so doing this locally at the T/C is not an option.

Tks

I cannot get these thin clients to accept the lastest update no matter what I try to do. I have used different USB drives and used all the ports. I have unplugged everything and pressed the power button twice (apparently you are supposed to with this model?). Looking for any help at all, thanks!

t510 Disconnecting RDP Sessions

$

Hello,

Just deployed our first t510 and I have to say I was massively impressed at how easy it was!!!  We are using it to RDP to a Windows 7 VM and I was told by staff that it just disconnects during the day.  Realizing this could be any number of issues, I wanted to see if what logs or events or anything I can obtain from the t510 that would help me diagnose the issues.

Thanks!
